How Medissimo can help

Medipac

Like nearly 85% of caregivers, I look after my parent's medication, and that's a source of stress.

I'm worried about my father Paul, who lives alone, takes a lot of medication and wants to continue making his pillboxes as always. Lately, he's been suffering from memory loss and can't see very well.

How can I be sure he won't make a mistake when making his pillbox? I read in an article that daddy's plastic pillboxes had given way to secure pillboxes, and that an official study had demonstrated their effectiveness from the first month of use.

I looked on the internet and saw that you could order these pillboxes and have them delivered directly to the pharmacy so that the pharmacist could prepare them. I find this very practical and, above all, very reassuring for my father.

Frequently asked questions

Is Medipac recyclable?
Made from recycled PET and recyclable cardboard, the MEDIPAC pill dispenser is recyclable. Remember to respect confidentiality by concealing information on the pill dispenser before disposing of it.

Medipac is not reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie. Some pharmacists charge for Medipac, others do not. The price can be as much as €4 per pillbox (or per week). Preparation is free of charge. You can choose a Medissimo partner pharmacy by using the "Find a pharmacy" tool.

You can choose a Medissimo pharmacy using the "Find a pharmacy" tool. If you ask us, we'll contact the pharmacy of your choice. We'll train them free of charge in the Medipac service, and give them a month's supply of Medipac pillboxes for your relative.

Pierce the correct Medipac compartment through the back of the pill dispenser when it's flat. Take the medication one at a time.

The Medipac pill dispenser helps you take your medication properly, so you don't forget, make mistakes or contaminate it. It's a 7-day single-use pillbox prepared and secured by a pharmacist using a professional digital application. An official study has shown that the Medipac pillbox improves compliance by up to 98% in the 1st month.

Tablets and capsules are kept in the pillbox if the dosage is regular. Otherwise, they remain in their boxes like other medicines, in sachets for example. A "MEDICAMENTS EN BOITE" label on the pill dispenser specifies the list of medicines remaining in their boxes.
The confidentiality of your parent's data is our top priority. Your parent's data and documents are stored with a certified data host. Only you and your parent's healthcare professionals have access, if your parent authorizes you to do so. To access your parent's data, the pharmacist adds you as a caregiver on his or her professional application. You will then be able to communicate directly with him/her via the Medissimo Aidant menu.

As soon as the pillboxes are in your relative's home and the pharmacist has activated your application, you can ask the homecare provider to record your relative's compliance by flashing the QR Code on the pillbox. No need for a mobile app! In this way, you can check that the data is being collected, and share the medication report with healthcare professionals at appointments that you simply arrange. Better still, you can also help healthcare professionals to get to know your relative better by collecting his or her life events on Medissimo Aidant.

A home care assistant, a caregiver or a nurse can record the medication intake, each with their own tool. You can also do this remotely, using Medissimo Aidant. For example, the home carer or nurse's aide can flash the QR code on the pill dispenser to enter the dose. Nurses use their Medissimo Infirmiere professional mobile application to fill in the prescription. For a single parent, the pharmacist can record compliance when the prescription is renewed. Several people can record medication intake in the same week, for example, the home help in the morning and the nurse once a week. All records are collected in the same place for a shared medication record.

From the Medissimo Aidant application menu "Listening to my parent", you can collect the elements of life you observe that influence intake, whether positive (e.g.: my father gained 500 grams back today) or negative (e.g.: he's really fed up with his evening medication). The Medissimo Aidant application can be used to print out this health report for follow-up visits to the pharmacist or doctor.
If you suspect that you are taking too much or too little medication, the follow-up interview enables the pharmacist to assess the situation and suggest appropriate solutions. From the Medissimo Aidant "Messagerie pharmacie" menu, you can request an interview with the pharmacist. The pharmacist is paid by the Caisse d'Assurance Maladie to carry out this assessment with your relative.

In Medissimo Aidant, you can use the shared medication record to inform the doctor. The doctor can also consult your relative's medication record.

Compliance assessment

The compliance report is a summary table of medication taken, enabling treatments to be re-evaluated from the Pharmacist App and the Establishment App.

The assessment is available for each patient on the nursing and pharmacy applications.

The assessment provides a global and detailed view of compliance, and helps to better understand the reasons for non-administration at any given time. The physician's analysis of the assessment enables him/her to take action to encourage proper use of the medication.

Assessment of proper use

The "bilan de bon usage" is a set of summary tables used to identify at-risk patients and drugs from the Medissimo Pharmacien app.

The balance sheet is available to the establishment on the pharmacy application.

The assessment provides an overall view of the risks associated with medication at any given time. The physician's analysis of the assessment enables him/her to take action to promote the proper use of medication.

The MEDISSIMO platform offers a secure, traceable treatment service for patients at home and in residential care, including pillboxing of medicines in the pharmacy and treatment monitoring in cooperation with healthcare professionals and their families.

The platform brings together the pharmacist, who delivers the treatment with full traceability, and the patient or his or her homecare assistant, who fills in the dosages from the MEDIPAC® pillbox prepared by a healthcare professional, and the nurse, who monitors the treatment in liaison with the pharmacist and the family, and informs the doctor in the event of a medication risk.

In line with the public health priority defined in the national health strategy, the pharmacist - nurse - attending physician triad is at the heart of the platform designed by MEDISSIMO, with the aim of promoting the proper use of medicines.
