Medissimo is a French company committed to the proper use of medicines, providing pharmacies with a digital platform and secure pillboxes to improve the management of chronic patients in coordination with healthcare professionals. The aim is to prevent risks and ensure healthy aging.

The company was founded in 2004 by Caroline Blochet, Doctor of Pharmacy.
In 2005, Medissimo marketed its first secure pill dispenser combined with traceability software to help prevent medication errors in healthcare establishments.
This new solution is being tested in scientific partnership with Paris Descartes University, and has been the subject of 20 scientific publications proving its effectiveness in terms of medication circuit safety.
In 2006, Medissimo was awarded a French patent for the safety of the medication circuit: "Process and system for dispensing medication to dependent persons" (July 7).
In 2007, Medissimo was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification, updated in 2015, for "Managing the correct use of medicines through a digital platform for patients equipped with secure pillboxes" (April 7).
In 2008, Caroline Blochet published the first EHPAD-Officine agreement, defining the roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the drug care chain in terms of drug safety. This agreement, which is updated every year, is a benchmark for all stakeholders.
In 2009, Medissimo equipped 237 pharmacies for 20,721 chronic patients.
In 2013, Medissimo hosted its healthcare data in France on OPSI's secure servers (IDS). This data is not transferred to any third country or international organization.
In 2014, the imedipac connected pill dispenser prototype won the Innovation Award at the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas. This pill dispenser consists of a refill prepared by the pharmacist, an NFC chip, an electrical box fitted with diodes, sensors and GPRS connectivity.
In 2018, Medissimo was awarded a US patent for its imedipac connected pillbox "Tablet dispensing system designed to monitor compliance of a patient's receipt of tablets". The patent is validated for Europe on March 08, 2023. The imedipac is withdrawn from the market in 2018 due to a lack of public acceptance (January 5).
In 2018, the restructuring and validation of the continuation plan enabled Medissimo to return to operating profitability.
Between 2018 and 2022, the company is taking the digital turn and developing its digital platform for the proper use of medicines - the only platform on the market - which enables pharmacists to collect reliable data to support patients and interact with healthcare professionals. The platform includes a pharmacist web application interfaced with pharmacy and institutional software, and connected to mobile compliance applications to assist nurses and caregivers, and provide feedback to pharmacists and doctors. The platform is connected to the patient's digital health space(ENS).
In 2020, Medissimo will equip 1,147 pharmacies for 82,260 chronic patients.
By 2021, Medissimo will have a complete range of secure pillboxes for patients living in institutions or at home.
In 2022, Medissimo will be awarded Qualiopi certification for its 15 vocational training courses, in line with the company's standards, which include training design, quality of teaching and technical resources, trainer qualifications, learner satisfaction and adaptation of training courses to the needs of the job market (May 5).
In 2022, Medissimo was awarded a French patent for compliance monitoring, entitled "Process for continuous improvement of compliance through preparation of doses to be administered" (November 4).
In 2022, Medissimo was awarded a French patent for robotized filling of secure pillboxes: "Device for automatic filling of a pillbox and associated process" (November 4).
In 2023, Medissimo was awarded a patent for a pill dispenser filling aid: "Device for filling a pill dispenser and associated process" (November 24).
In 2023, Medissimo will offer the first mobile application connected to the pharmacy, designed to improve the care of independent patients by promoting dialogue and coordination with the doctor (November 27).
The challenge for the next decade is to continue developing the digital platform, with the aim of becoming a benchmark player in treatment monitoring, to contribute to the proper use of medicines, the quality of medical care and the control of healthcare costs associated with ageing.
In 2018, Medissimo is implementing the RGPD data security policy. In the processing operated by Medissimo, personal data is collected for the purposes of tracking the medication circuit, improving patient care, and statistical studies for healthcare professionals. The legal basis for this processing is the legitimate interest of the individual and the patient's consent.
The personal data collected is intended for healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care: pharmacists, doctors, nurses, as well as medical staff acting under the responsibility of these healthcare professionals (pharmacy assistants, nurses' aides, medical secretaries, etc.).
The personal data collected and the platform are hosted by the service provider OPSI (formerly IDS) since December 2013, a certified "Health Data Host" (article 1111-8 of the French Public Health Code and the decree of January 4, 2006 on the hosting of personal health data).

The MEDISSIMO platform offers a secure, traceable treatment service for patients at home and in residential care, including pillboxing of medicines in the pharmacy and treatment monitoring in cooperation with healthcare professionals and their families.
The platform brings together the pharmacist, who delivers the treatment with full traceability, and the patient or his or her homecare assistant, who fills in the dosages from the MEDIPAC® pillbox prepared by a healthcare professional, and the nurse, who monitors the treatment in liaison with the pharmacist and the family, and informs the doctor in the event of a medication risk.
In line with the public health priority defined in the national health strategy, the pharmacist - nurse - attending physician triad is at the heart of the platform designed by MEDISSIMO, with the aim of promoting the proper use of medicines.
