Kimed FAQ

FAQ for Patients

a. Understanding Kimed and Adherence

What is treatment adherence?

Therapeutic compliance is defined as the degree to which a patient’s behavior aligns with the medication, hygiene, and dietary recommendations prescribed by the physician and communicated by the pharmacist.

In other words, this refers to the extent to which you follow the treatment prescribed by your healthcare team. Source

Failure to follow your doctor’s instructions reduces your chances of staying healthy. It can lead to complications that may be life-threatening. In any case, non-compliance results in additional hospitalizations, tests, and doctor’s visits. Source

On the other hand, good adherence improves your quality of life and long-term treatment outcomes.

Kimed® is a connected mobile app that helps you manage your daily treatment. The app is linked to your pharmacist to ensure medication traceability.

Download the Kimed app® from the Apple Store or Google Play and ask your pharmacist to activate it. Your pharmacist will complete the dosing schedule for your medications. You’ll then receive reminders so you don’t miss a dose, and you can add other medications if you’re taking them, as well as report any adverse events. The app automatically generates a summary based on your actual doses, side effects, missed doses, and self-medication.

b. Practical use

Is the app free?

Yes, Kimed is completely free for patients to use.

Don't worry—even though we recommend logging your intake on a daily basis, you can still enter it in the following days.

Absolutely not! Kimed is designed to help us better understand your medication-taking habits so we can identify potential issues and enhance your discussions with your pharmacist and doctor.

Your medications are automatically recorded by your pharmacist. However, you can add other medications by simply taking a photo of the barcode (CIP, Datamatrix) on the box so that Kimed can record it.

Don’t worry—the app sends you notifications to remind you to take your medication. If you do happen to miss a dose, it will be recorded in your history, and your pharmacist can offer you support and a consultation as soon as you miss your first dose. Do not take a double dose without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

c. Information sharing and coordination of care

Is my data secure?

Yes, securing the information you provide is a top priority. This is ensured in accordance with current best practices. Kimed complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and data is hosted by a certified HDS (Health Data Host) provider. Encryption is applied to stored data and during data transmission.

The pharmacist has access to your medication adherence data through the report, solely for the purpose of facilitating communication and reviewing your treatment. The app automatically sends the report to your Shared Medical Record (DMP) via Mon Espace Santé. You can also share your information with a caregiver or family member if you wish.

Yes, the Kimed app lets you view a parent’s treatment plan so you can support them and help them protect themselves from the risks associated with medication misuse.

d. Technical aspects

Can Kimed replace medical care?

No, Kimed is a tool to help with medication adherence, not a substitute for medical care. It complements traditional medical monitoring by providing accurate data on medication intake. The app facilitates communication with your healthcare providers but does not replace necessary consultations and examinations.

If you have any technical questions about using Kimed, you can consult the help resources available on medissimo.fr or contact technical support through the app.

The app requires an internet connection to sync your data and send adherence reports. However, reminder notifications can run locally on your smartphone once they have been scheduled.

Yes, Kimed lets you track multiple medications and manage complex treatment regimens with different dosing times. The app helps you organize all your treatments in one place.

Compliance assessment

The compliance report is a summary table of medication taken, enabling treatments to be re-evaluated from the Pharmacist App and the Establishment App.

The assessment is available for each patient on the nursing and pharmacy applications.

The assessment provides a global and detailed view of compliance, and helps to better understand the reasons for non-administration at any given time. The physician's analysis of the assessment enables him/her to take action to encourage proper use of the medication.

Assessment of proper use

The "bilan de bon usage" is a set of summary tables used to identify at-risk patients and drugs from the Medissimo Pharmacien app.

The balance sheet is available to the establishment on the pharmacy application.

The assessment provides an overall view of the risks associated with medication at any given time. The physician's analysis of the assessment enables him/her to take action to promote the proper use of medication.

The MEDISSIMO platform offers a secure, traceable treatment service for patients at home and in residential care, including pillboxing of medicines in the pharmacy and treatment monitoring in cooperation with healthcare professionals and their families.

The platform brings together the pharmacist, who delivers the treatment with full traceability, and the patient or his or her homecare assistant, who fills in the dosages from the MEDIPAC® pillbox prepared by a healthcare professional, and the nurse, who monitors the treatment in liaison with the pharmacist and the family, and informs the doctor in the event of a medication risk.

In line with the public health priority defined in the national health strategy, the pharmacist - nurse - attending physician triad is at the heart of the platform designed by MEDISSIMO, with the aim of promoting the proper use of medicines.
